Acadian Flag Magnetic Necklace ©

Red, white and blue like the flag of France. The gold star at the top left, the Stella Maris (Star of the Sea), seeks the protection of the Virgin Mary [patron saint of the Acadians]; and guides Mariners through storms and reefs.


Did you know French Acadians first arrived in Cape Breton Island, to escape deportation [The Great Upheaval] from mainland Nova Scotia by the British, between 1755 - 1763? In 1764 [Seven Years War ends] deported Acadians began to resettle on our Island; and established strong French cultural communities. Present day Chéticamp and Isle Madame.
